Dear parents and students, I am very excited to begin another year at Timmerman Elementary! I have been fortunate to teach six of my seven years here at Timmerman, both as a fourth and fifth grade teacher. The last seven years have brought many changes. I have now been married for four years to my wonderful husband. We met while attending the University of Texas and since that time, we've both graduated, he's become a criminal defense attorney and I love teaching fifth grade. I'm also "mom" to two wonderful Snowshoe cats. Bandit is our oldest at two and a half while Abby is our latest addition. She's just about a year and a half, but makes a wonderful (and sometimes annoying) little sister for Bandit. Last October, we also adopted a German Shepherd puppy, named Max, from a local rescue organization. At ten months, he is still very much a puppy, but a big 80 pound one at that!! They all have definitely kept me on my toes this summer! I must admit that I was quite the mover before settling in Central Texas. Our most recent move from Houston does add to a lengthy list of geographical changes for me. I was born a Yankee (though I'll frequently deny it :) in Warren, Ohio on the eastern side of Ohio where much of my family originates. My parents were soon on the move, however, due to my father's occupation. By the time I graduated high school, I had the pleasure of living in Ohio, Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, and Massachusetts in a total of 12 homes! I must say that even though things were a bit chaotic from time to time, I would move all over again as I was able to see and experience much of our country. After my high school graduation in Marlborough, Massachusetts, I chose to head back to familiar territory in Austin, Texas. I attended the University of Texas where I accomplished several things. I met my future husband (although he would not want to be seen as an accomplishment:), earned Psychology and Education degrees, and did it all in five years while working at a local private school. Looking back, I don't know how I got everything done because there never seems to be enough time in the day to do my duties now, but I guess that's one thing that's better when you're younger! I was so fortunate to be accepted into Timmerman right out of college. At the time, I was happy to have a job, but I soon realized what a fantastic campus I had fallen into! I have enjoyed two great years as a fourth grade teacher and five years as a 5th grade teacher (one in the Humble ISD). In my classroom, I do have high expectations for all my students. I like for my students to know that they have truly worked hard to earn every achievement they make. I love to talk to my class at the end of the year and look back on all the accomplishments they have made. Many times, they don't even realize their accomplishments until the end and seeing their realization of their growth is what teaching is all about. I am excited to begin another year at Timmerman Elementary and to meet all my new students. I believe we are going to have a fabulous year!
